2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Trailer Hitch Options
Question:
I have a 2010 ford Explorer Sport Trac with a factory installed Class II trailer hitch system. The vehicle has a 4.6L V8 engine with a towing capacity of 7100 lbs so I would like to upgrade to a Class III or Class IV hitch to accommodate this. I cannot seem to find a trailer hitch that fits my vehicle on your site and wanted to see if you had any insight into why this is or if there is one that would work. Thank you.

Unfortunately they have not made a hitch for your 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. This is similar to a situation we have with newer Suburban and Yukon models. Since all of the models come factory with a 2" hitch installed the aftermarket manufacturers just don't produce any because there really isn't any demand in most cases.
I do understand wanting to get all out of your rig that it has to offer. With it having a stated 7,100 lb. towing capacity from the manufacturer it is likely the hitch equipped is capable of hauling that amount. Generally an auto manufacturer will not certify a rating higher than the limit of the weakest components in the system including the hitch.
To confirm check your owner's manual carefully for the towing and hitch rating or even check the hitch to see if it still has it's rating sticker and do not exceed the lower stated rating.
