Recommended Replacement Tire for 5 x 8 Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 5×8foot trailer I use to take a riding lawnmower to our summer camp to cut the grass. It has 5.70-8 tires. I want to tow this trailer behind my RV. It will be on the through way most of the time. What tire do you recommend?

The # AM30140 wheel/tire combo you'd looked at would work well, assuming your existing wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The tires are rated up to 65 mph, so they'd be safe at reasonable highway speeds. If you wish, you could go up in size to a 4.80-12 tire/wheel like # AM30660 which would move your tire 1 inch closer to the fender. You'll want to make sure you have at least 3 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the underside of the fender when the trailer is loaded as you'd typically have it. This tires also carries a 65 mph speed rating, and has a 990 lb per tire/1980 lb per axle load rating.
