Compatible 4.80 X 8 Trailer Tire That Can Handle Highway Speeds

Question:

I am getting ready to pull a small trailer behind my trike. I like to ride at highway speeds. I noticed that all of your trailer tires are rated for 65 mph. My trailer total weight of the trailer will be less that 750 lbs loaded. To achieve this speed without damaging the tire what rated tire do I need? I realize that I only need a B rted tire but would a C rated tire better suit my needs? 4.80 x 8 4 4 hole trailer tire Thanks

For that size tire, 4.80 X 8, I recommend the Kenda tire, # AM10004. This tire has the Load C rating and fits the 8 inch x 3-3/4 inch rim.

Using the heavier load range could extend the life of this tire. The Kenda tire is a bias tire that tend to run hotter than radial tires. The killer of all tires especially trailer tires is heat. Unfortunately, there are no radial tires in the 4.80 X 8 tire size. However, bias tires will usually have a stronger sidewall so they can handle more road to off-road travel.

On these smaller bias tires, they usually do not have a posted speed rating. In this case the maximum highway speed recommended would be 65 MPH.
