I have both class II and class III trailer hitch options for a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12048 for class II and part # C13079 for class III are what I recommend as they are both great bolt-on options assembled here in the USA. In order to complete your towing setup you'll need the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter part # C59236 for models without LEDs or part # C56127 for models with and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989899.
Please note, installing a class II/III hitch will not void the warranty and so long as you are within the weight capacities the manufacturer provides you don't have to worry about transmission problems or them not being covered. There are laws in place to protect consumers against this.
