Installing Curt Hitch on 2005 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis

Question:

Got my hitch today. First issue I have a 40 Gal gas tank that looks like Ill need to lower in order to get a drill bit in there and also so that I can make sure I dont drill into the main wiring harness on the front holes. My question however is this. When I line up the rear of the hitch with the rivets on the frame rails, the foward-most rear hole lines up with a rivet but the center hole where I need to drill is partially overlapping another off center rivet. Should I drill right through that rivet. The red circle is the rivet partially covering up the center hole. Thanks

Thank you for the excellent photos, and for starters, you are correct that it will help ease installation if you lower the gas tank on your 2005 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14048.

In regards to drilling, yes, you can drill through the off-center rivet head to install the hitch. This hitch is a fit for quite a few different trucks which is why it doesn't specify this in the directions.
