Recommended Parts to Tow a Small Trailer with a 2009 Buick LaCrosse
Question:
I have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse and I'm looking to install a trailer hitch on it for some work loads like sheet goods, lumber, or mulch. Maybe some light furniture moving as well. What trailer hitch do you recommend and what else would I need so that I can tow a trailer?

We have everything that you need to get towing with your 2009 Buick LaCrosse.
For a trailer hitch I recommend the 1-1/4" Class II Curt # C12239 because we have found the Curt trailer hitches typically have better welds and a thicker powder coat than other options. This contributes to a longer lifespan of the trailer hitch which in turn raises the quality of the hitch.
Since you're needing to tow a smaller trailer you'll also need wiring to activate the trailer lights and for that I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56340. This simply tees in behind your tail lights so you don't have to worry about splicing into your OEM wiring.
You can either keep the connector in your trunk and then feed it out when you need it (just keep it from the center latch when you close the trunk) or if you can locate a grommet to feed the 4-Way through in your trunk you can keep it located next to the receiver with the bracket # C58002.
If you don't already have a ball mount, then Curt recommends using the part # C45522. You'll also need a pin & clip set # F-4 and a hitch ball like the 1-78" # C40001 or 2" # C40018 depending on the size of your trailer coupler.
Please note that even though the Curt trailer hitch is rated to tow up to a 3,500 lb trailer, when I looked up your vehicle it looks like the max towing capacity is 1,000 lbs so you'll want to remain under that weight rating. It's also helpful to double check this in your owner's manual plus look for other towing guidelines in the manual.
