Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a Bike Rack on a 2017 Jeep Patriot
Question:
I have a 2017 Jeep Patriot and I'm needing a hitch so I can carry a bike rack. I'll probably end up using it to tow a few small trailers too so if you could tell me what wiring goes with this hitch that would be awesome too.

I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98836 for your 2017 Jeep Patriot because it gives you a 2" hitch receiver which means you have access to a wider variety of accessories (like bike racks) plus it has a matte black finish which looks more rugged and actually hides dents and scratches from road debris much better than the classic glossy black finish that comes on other hitches.
If you don't already have a bike rack then I recommend going with the Thule Camber # TH9058. It takes some of the best Thule bike rack features and packages them in a cost-effective way so that we are getting a quality rack that doesn't carry the same price-tag as some other options out there.
For wiring I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118552 because we have found the Tekonsha equipment to be the most reliable. This kit plugs in behind your tail lights and then draws power directly from your vehicle battery which means your OEM wiring is protected.
You also need some ball mount equipment to finish a towing setup. I like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989891 but you will want to reference the attached ball mount article to make sure that the 3/4" rise/2" drop is correct for your towing application.
I have attached some videos you can check out as well.
