What are the Functions of the Trailer Brake Controller Wires for a 2003 Chevy Silverado
Question:
can you tell me what wire goes to what pin on the harness? the plug that goes to the second spot I think the red top right, white bottom right, black middle left, and last blue to the bottom left. also do i need to do any thing else to activate the system I have the 7 pin already install on the back of the truck. I see different things like putting in a fuse on the fuse block under the hood or attaching the red wire to the lug on the fuse bock not sure.also if it is all hooked up right but no power to the blue wire at the back whats wrong?

On the brake controller wiring harness, white is ground, black is for 12 volt power to the controller, red is input from the stop light circuit, and blue is output to the trailer brakes.
On some trucks, there are some under the hood connections that need to be made to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to an FAQ article that should help.
If everything is connected properly and there is no signal going back to the brake circuit on the 7-Way when the manual override is applied on the brake controller that would indicate that voltage is not getting back due to a break in the line or an internal issue with the controller.
To test the controller you would sever the blue wire a few inches back from the controller and test the wire. If it does not show power when you apply the manual override then there is a problem inside the controller and it will need to be replaced. If it does show a signal then there is a break in the line somewhere you will need to track down.
