P.L. Error Shown on Tekonsha Prodigy P2
Question:
I have a prodigy p2, Ive connected it through the factory port next to the firewall in my 06 Silverado 1500hd. It is showing P.L. when brake is applied. It doesnt recognize the trailer when its plugged in. N.c. I have retightened the black wire on the trailer plug. Im stuck. Because as far as testing the wires from the port I dont know what goes where.

For starters, we need to confirm that you have the correct Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers which is part # 3015-P. Now, the "P.L". error you are receiving means there is a power loss when applying the trailer brakes. There are not many things you can check since the trailer brake wiring provision are built-in along with the factory harness however, there should be an M6 stud on the power distribution center (PDC) that is for the brake controller power so make sure this ring terminal is secure.
The "N.C" error you are receiving means there is no trailer connected so if you get this message while there is one connected then you most likely have a short on the brake output wire which again is hard to check as it is built-in along with the factory harness. I would double check the wires at the back of the 7-way. However, if none of the above works then you will need to take your truck into a service center or just hardwire the brake controller yourself with part # 38630 and part # 10-1-1. If you still get errors after this then you need to replace the brake controller.
