How to Pick Out the Right Rise/Drop Ball Mount

Question:

I bought this for use with my truck/trailer. It works but my old one had a 3-4inch and with this my trailer appears to sit slightly higher. I was wondering if the Reese plate would be a better item for me and if so which class would I need. My truck is an 07 Toy Tacoma and my trailers max weight is 4000lbs, 350 - 400 tongue weight.

Expert Reply:

In order to pick out the correct rise/drop ball mount you need to take a couple measurements and do one simple calculation. It sounds like you may need a different drop ball mount, but to prevent you from ordering the wrong one check out the FAQ article I attached that details how to select the correct height ball mount for your setup.
