Shorter Pintle Hook Needed for Trailer Jack Clearance While Towing on Hills

Question:

I have this pintle hook on my e350 extended van. On some roads and slight slopes i drag the trailers jack. Most likely due to the excessive over hang from my rear axle to bumper. Is there a shorter pintle hook thst will bring trsiler in closer to my hitch? Shortest one i think i found was 9 1/2 inch pin to hook.

The shortest pintle hook option we have is the Curt SecureLatch Pintle Hook for 2" Hitches # CU24FR which measures 9" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the pintle hook. Please note that you need to make sure that your trailer is sitting level when you are towing it so your best solution might be a pintle hook that has a rise. I have attached a helpful article you can reference for more information on this.

Another solution for you might be to swap out the jack on your trailer. We have some jacks that can rotate to be in-line with the trailer frame like the etrailer Swivel Marine Jack # MJ-1206B. This essentially eliminates any kind of clearance issues you might be having with your trailer jack.

In addition to the helpful article I have also attached links to our selections of pintle hooks and swivel trailer jacks for you to filter through.
