Lights on Lippert Electric Trailer Jack Wont Stay Turned Off

Question:

The LED lights on the power tongue jack come on at will, in the OFFinch position. The lights are on, but not as brightly lit as in the ONinch position. If we flip the switch to ON, at that point, the lights brighten. Then they will turn off with the switch. However, they are on once again a little while later when we check them, the switch still in the OFFinch position. We understand this can drain the trailer batteries. Suggestions, please.

It looks like the Lippert Power Tongue Jack model 1817941 is the same jack as our Lippert Power Tongue Jack # LC285318, but the 1817941 is the manufacturer's part number. If this jack is less than a year old, it may still be under Lippert's warranty, so that might be something to look into before replacing any parts.

With that being said, if the LED lights on your Lippert Power Tongue Jack # LC285318 are still illuminating when the switch is off then you either have a short somewhere or there is something going on with the switch itself and it needs to be replaced.

I first recommend making sure all of your wiring connections are secure and corrosion free and also make sure that it is mounted to a clean, bare-metal surface as that is how this trailer jack grounds. If all of that looks good then the next thing to check is the switch. Take the top off and check to see that everything is looking okay where the switch installs. Replacement switches are no longer available
