Spare Tire Clearance Provided by Curt Class IV # C14081 Installed on 1991 GMC Pickup
Question:
Is there any clearance problems with this Curt hitch # 14081 and my spare tire that hangs under the truck bed?

According to my contacts at Curt Manufacturing, if the spare tire on your 1991 GMC pickup is the stock size, the spare tire might need to be slightly repositioned toward the front of the truck. This is a simple process. Remove spare, and install hitch according to the instructions I have linked you to. When install is complete, push forward on spare tire while raising it into position. If your tires are larger than stock size, the spare might need to be completely relocated.
The Draw-Tite Class IV receiver, part # 41901 has the same capacity as the Curt, and would not require removal or repositioning of the spare tire. This hitch is not compatible with crew cab or short bed models.
