Bulldog Powered Drive Stalling Powered By On Board 12V Battery
Question:
I have had this jack installed for over a couple of years and has never operated consistantly. I have double checked the ground and have the unit powered by an on board 12 volt battery 8D tractor battery. The unit will operated intermittently while either raising or lowering jack. It will operate normal and the slow down once the trailer is resting on the hitch. I have checked the switch and the relay and both test good. Now the unit will not operate. Power goes to the on board lights but the jack will not operate. Is their a possible short in the motor and is that covered under the warranty? Or do I need to contact bulldog directly. I have 3 Atwood jacks on other trailers that are working flawlessly. I am regretting buying this bulldog jack.

It sounds like either the battery that the Bulldog Powered Drive Trailer Jack part # BD500199 is powered by is not getting a complete charge or I know you said you have double checked the ground but since the ground is through the mounting hardware you may want to run a jumper wire from the mounting hardware to the frame of the trailer to see if that gives it a sufficient enough ground. Other customers have had success grounding the jack this way.
It could also be that the tube is slightly bent since it is not powering at a certain height. If the tube is bent the jack would bind at a certain spot. If that is the case it will most likely need to be replaced. It does have a 5-year limited warranty.
