what underbody trim piece are you talking about that needs to be removed when installing the Curt class III on 2019 Mazda CX-5?

There may be a plastic underbody panel under the bumper of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 that looks like the attached photo that needs to be removed with a flat head screw drivers when installing Curt Class III part # C13315. It is located between the bumper and muffler. The placement of the panel interferes with the hitch installation so it would need to be permanently removed. It was installed by Mazda to slightly improve the aerodynamics of the Mazda.

I do have an option for you but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver C13127 will not fit the 2017 Mazda CX-5 due to a redesign. Instead, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part #C13315 is the correct on you will need to use on the 2017 model.
