Which Trailer Wiring Harness Kit Will Provide a 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector on a 2010 Ford Escape

Question:

Hello, I have a 2010 Ford Escape. I was really hoping to find this wiring harness with a 5-way flat harness to power some reverse LED lights and/or a reverse lockout solenoid on a surge-brake trailer. Do you offer anything that would work or do I need to wire in a relay to handle this function? Thank you!

We have a couple different options that will work to give you the 5-way connector on your 2010 Ford Escape for your reverse LED lights or reverse lockout solenoid circuit.

The easiest route may be to get the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118551, and the 4-way to 5-way Adapter, # 20036. There is minimal splicing involved with this application. The wiring harness will not have to splice into the vehicle wires, but the additional blue wire from the adapter will have to splice into the reverse light circuit on the vehicle. I would also recommend getting the Mounting Bracket, # TR20046, for a professional looking mount.

I have attached a video of this wiring harness being installed on a 2010 Ford Escape and a video showing how to install the 4-way to 5-way adapter.

The other option that you have would be the Tow Ready Wiring Harness kit, # 119177KIT, which will give you the 5-way connector for your trailer, but all of the wires will need to be spliced into the tail light wires on your vehicle. With this kit the reverse light circuit is protected by the module and with the adapter it is not. I have attached installation instructions for this harness for you to check out.
