Modulite Protector with Integrated Circuit & Overload Protection, Hardwire Kit and Tester

Nice product. Works as intended. Only problem is the lack of a mounting bracket. The plastic case has a slot molded in for a bracket - but no bracket is included! A couple of adhesive mounting tabs and cable ties might hold it, but I wouldn't risk the consequences of dragging it down the road when it falls off. I made up the aluminum bracket that should have been included.

Works great. I have a very tricky install due to a large bundle of wires and finding the right connections. Tailgate lights function differently between being open and closed. Had no issues once installed.

  • Trailer Wiring Needed to Tow a Boat Trailer with a 2011 Land Rover
You are not being mislead. The line of Land Rover vehicles have European wiring, sensitive circuitry and computers that require a circuit protected and converted wiring system for towing American made trailers with combined trailer lighting. Since you mentioned a 5-Way connector, you would also need to protect the circuit coming from your vehicles reverse light circuit. The only wiring harness that we stock that provides protection for the reverse light circuit is the Tow Ready 5-Way Wiring...

  • Tow Ready Wiring Kit # 119177KIT Recommendation for 1995 Volvo 850 For Trailer with Surge Brakes
For your 1995 Volvo 850 I would recommend that you install a Tow Ready Wiring Harness Kit, part # 119177KIT, like the one you referenced. This product has a 5-way connector that would provide you with a reverse lockout solenoid circuit and would work well for you. I attached installation instructions below for you to check out also.

  • 5-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2008 BMW X5
Since all of the trailer wiring options we have for your 2008 BMW X5 are hardwire options the best solution will be to use the # 119177KIT which is also a hardwire option but it comes with a 5-way that you can wire the reverse light circuit to. This way you wouldn't have to deal with any adapters.

  • Can a 5-Way Hardwire Trailer Wiring Harness be Installed on a 2004 BMW X5
Yes, you can use a 5-Way hardwire trailer wiring harness on your 2004 BMW X5 but I recommend # 119177KIT since it comes with the additional wiring and other parts you will need to complete the installation.

  • 5-Way Wiring Kit Recommendation for Truck Towing Trailer with 5-Way
We have just what you need with the part # 119177KIT. This is basically a standard 4-way wiring kit with the additional reverse light circuit and instead comes with a 5-way. So you can install it directly without having to convert the 4-way to a 5-way later.

  • How to Find the Reverse Light Circuit for 5 Way Install on a Toyota Sienna 2014
I can help you figure out which wire you will need to use, but I do not know which color wire you would need. Since your reverse lights are in the rear hatch of your 2014 Toyota Sienna you will want to find test the wires that are in the rubber wire loom that should be at the top of the hatch between the door and the threshold for the door. In that loom there should be the circuit that has the reverse light circuit. Once you find it there you can then take apart the inside interior pieces...

  • Installing Tow Ready Modulite Power Converter, 5-Way Flat on 2012 Mercedes Sprinter
The Tow Ready Modulite Power Converter 5-Way Flat and Circuit Protection # 119177KIT is a universal installation application, so we do not have specific installation instructions for a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. You will want to splice the wiring harness into the Sprinter's factory wiring using the included quick-splice connectors. When we installed a similar wiring harness on a 2013 Sprinter, the wiring connections were made a couple of inches before the taillight connector at the...

  • Troubleshooting New Tail Light Not Working on Trailer
If your new tail light isn't working on your trailer you will just want to make sure you have it wired correctly with a secure ground. I am not sure what type of tail light assembly you installed but you will need to make sure that its power wire is connected to the running light wire on the trailer. A lot of lights will have a separate wire for ground (usually white) but many simply ground through their mounting hardware. In either case you will need to make sure it is connected to a...

The Universal Power Converter 5-Way Flat and Circuit Protection with Hardwire Kit and Tester, item # 119177KIT, is compatible with your Toureg. This wiring harness will install the same as the wiring harness that is recommended for your vehicle, item # 119176KIT, with the exception of the extra blue wire that is connected to the vehicle reverse light circuit for locking out surge brakes on boat trailers. • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Functioning on a 2009 Honda Pilot
Depends on the amperage draw of your trailer running lights and what the license plate light circuit or running light circuit of your 2009 Honda Pilot is rated for. If the taillight circuit of your Pilot can handle the additional draw of your trailer running lights you might be okay for a temporary situation like getting back home so that you can fix it. But I would not recommend this as a permanent solution as you could blow some fuses or damage wiring. You might first check the trailer...

  • Can You Verify The Correct Wire Colors To Connect On Tail Light Of a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLE 350?
We do not have access to a wiring harness diagram for your 2016 Mercedes Benz GLE 350. You may be able to contact the service department at a local dealer for help identifying the correct wires but I still recommend testing the wiring with the tester included in the Wiring Kit # 119177KIT. It typically takes less time to access the tail light connector on the rear of your GLE and use the tester to find locate the wires than most dealers will be able to lookup the information.

  • Needing Trailer Wiring Harness to Operate Reverse Lamps on Trailer
The Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness you referred to, part # 118640 will feed the trailer running lamps, brake lamps and right and left directional signals, but not reverse lamps. We do not have a plug and play wiring harness option that would provide a 5-pole, but you could hardwire one using part # 119177KIT. You would use the tester included in the kit to test the wires feeding the factory taillight assemblies to locate which wire carries the right turn, left turn, brake lamp,...

Tow Ready offers a Modulite taillight converter with a 5 pole, part # 119177KIT. • Powered Tail Light Converter for a 2008 BMW X3 and Trailer with Separate Brake and Turn Lights
The # 119177KIT could be used on your 2008 BMW X3. However, in addition to the 5 wire converter, you will need another converter, # 118158. The reason is the 5 wire converter will combine the brake and turn signals. Since your trailer has separate turn and brake lights, the second converter is needed. The running light circuit will bypass the second converter. Only the ground, right turn/brake and left turn/brake will going into the converter. What I would do is cut off the 5-Way connector...

  • Adding a 5-Way Trailer Connector to a 2012 Audi Q5 to Tow a Trailer with Electric Reverse Lockout
The best option to add a fifth pin for the reverse light circuit on your 2012 Audi Q5 will be to install the Modulite Wiring Harness, # 119177KIT. The reverse light circuit on your vehicle likely uses pulse width modulation (PWM) like your other tail light circuits and would require a wiring harness with a powered converter box that can detect PWM. Since you already have a PWM wiring harness installed on your vehicle, you could just cut the wires from the input side of the converter box...

The difference between the Modulite Power Converter 5-Way Flat part # 119177KIT and the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT is that the ZCI kit has clamp on sensors that receive signal from the tail light wires without actually splicing into them whereas the Modulite kit will need to physically splice into the wires in order to receive a signal from the tail lights. The ZCI kit also has a 4-way trailer connector and the Modulite has a 5-way trailer connector. However,...
