Mounting a Winch Plate and Front Mount Trailer Hitch on a 2007 Toyota Tundra 2WD

Question:

I want to mount a winch plate on my 2wd 07 Tundra and ensure that the winch plat will mount properly enough to allow a Mile Marker 9500 lbs winch to fit on it without touching the bumper. Will this product work correctly or would something else work better? Regards and thank you.

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he stated that the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch, # 31198, will not sit flush with the bumper on your 2007 Toyota Tundra 2WD, but about 2-3 inches back. We offer the Curt Electric Winch Mount Plate, # C31010, that has three pin holes that will allow you to adjust the distance of the winch plate from the vehicle. The measurement from the furthest pin hole to the mounting plate is 8-1/4 inches. I have attached a picture showing these measurements. This may only give you about 2 inches from the front bumper to the rear of the mounting plate.

I do not know the overall dimensions of your winch, but you can measure from the rear mounting points on the bottom of the winch to the furthest back part of the winch. You will want to use that measurement for the amount of clearance that you will need from your bumper.

I have also included an image of the bolt hole dimensions to see if your winch will fit on this winch plate. We also carry the Front Vehicle Winch Wiring Kit, # BDW20205, and the Trailer and Vehicle Wiring Kit, # BDW20207. Both of these kits will allow you to wire your winch to your vehicle.

Another option that may work for you would be to go with a rear mounted trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Class IV Trailer Hitch, # 41935. You will have more clearance because the receiver mounts flush with the rear bumper and the indent for the step provides more room behind the winch.

You should not exceed the gross weight rating, GAWR, of your front axle and you should check your owners manual for limitations on towing.
