Can the 7-Way On a 2016 Toyota Tundra Be Used To Charge Battery In Truck Bed

Question:

I have a marine deep cycle battery in the bed of my truck to run lights and plugs in my topper. Can I use the 7 way plug and run a positive and negative to the battery to keep it charged up? What size wire should I use? Do I need a fuse I so what size? Thank you for the help.

The trailer connector on your 2016 Toyota Tundra can be used to provide a maintenance charge for the battery in your truck bed. In order to do this you will just need the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector part # PK12706 and some loose wire part # 10-1-1 (per foot) which is 10 gauge. The blue wire will plug into the pin for the 12 volt power feed which is the one in the eleven o'clock position when facing the front of the connector and then the other end will run to the positive battery terminal. There won't be an additional fuse needed as the 12 volt power feed is already fused.
