Will Curt Trailer Hitch # C26HR Fit 2018 Ford F-150 with Factory Support Beam for Bumper Hitch Ball
Question:
My truck has a factory tow hitch, 5000 lb rating. It does NOT have a receiver tube below. The ball screws in thru the hole in the bumper. Can I utilize the standard class IV hitch rather than the one built to drop down below the factory hitch w/ receiver tube?

I reached out to my contact at Curt and he said if your 2018 Ford F-150 just has the crossbeam that sits below the rear bumper for hitch ball support then you can indeed use the Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver # C26HR, which is designed for trucks that don't have the factory hitch receiver. He said this will mount to the frame rails on the truck without any interfere with that steel tube.
This is a better option for your truck since it allows for increased ground clearance compared to the models that are designed to sit below the factory hitch, thus further down from the rear bumper.
I have attached an installation video that you can also use for reference.
