What Size Trailer Rim Should be Used for a 205/75-15 Trailer Tire

Question:

I have a new set of 205/75/15 tires and would like to replace my old trailer rims. I see that the recommended size of these tires is a 5 - 6.5in rim. Should I go with 15x5 or a 15x6 rim? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks!

For a trailer tire, the narrowest option rim for any given tire is going to be the best option. For a 205/75-15, the best option would be a 5 inch rim.

The reason that narrower is better is because it provides more support for the tire. Since trailer tires handle more vertical load, the narrow wheel that offers more support is ideal.

A wider rim can still be used but you will not get as much support and you may run into interference issues even though the width difference overall with the tire installed will be minimal. But, it is still a possibility.

I have included a link to our selection of 15 inch rims. There are several different bolt patterns available for a 15x5 inch rim so make sure to check the bolt pattern in the product title.
