Switching to Double Eye Leaf Springs on a Triton Snowmobile Trailer

Question:

Hi I have a triton one place snowmobile trailer. I have been having a problem with the eye part of leaf spring breaking. I changed drivers side last year and now the passenger side has broken. I measured from hole to hole and it was approx 29 1/4 inches . But the spring itself is approx 33. The trailer itself says 2200lb capacity. What would you suggest? should i stay with slipper style or try to find something that would fit that would have the hole on each end. It broke recently when i hauled 8 sheets of sheetrock. It shifted and tire got shredded. Please let me know what you suggest.

It is possible to install double eye leaf springs on your trailer, yes but you will need to cut off your old hangers and install new ones. However, if the leaf springs that you had on your trailer were old and worn then there is a chance they could have become brittle and just broke due to age. This is not always an indication that there is an issue. However, when choosing a new leaf spring you will need to take your measurements while unloaded and take into consideration that leaf springs will stretch out over time. Please note that it is recommend to replace both springs in pairs.

I checked our selection and did not see any slipper springs that match the dimensions that you provided therefore the best option we can provide you would be a new double eye leaf spring setup, the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit part # APS2 with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # e77SR (2). This option will be more cost effective in the long run and it will give your trailer a smoother and quieter ride when compared to the slipper springs you have now.
