Hi there I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the replacement shim for your ladder rack base rails. This is going to replace the plastic shim needed for your Thule track rack sliding ladder rack base rails.You will need one of these shims per pocket or for each of your stake pockets. Now, this is a Thule product, you can trust that it's going to work for your application. You're not going to need to worry about making adjustments or modifications or anything like that. You can see here at the bottom our overall width is pretty narrow.
We're looking at we're at about an 1/8 of an inch, and then at the top, we're right about a 1/4 of an inch. Our overall width, we're right about, call it 4 1/2 inches. Make that a little bit easier for you to see 4 1/2 inches total width, and then our depth right about 3 inches. It is going to be an exact replacement from Thule so it should work for your application without any issues whatsoever. If you're needing a new shim, this is going to be the piece for you.That's going to complete our look for today.

We've been really happy with the Thule Sliding TracRac, and have made some unusual modifications. We wanted to mount it outside/around a camper shell, so we needed to mount the rails outboard of the truck bed (aluminum "shelves") and figure out how to make the crossbars longer (bought a third crossbar and connected extension sections by making three-holed t-slots nuts and using round aluminum tubes). None of this sanctioned by etrailer or Thule, of course. See photos, which also show an adaptor I made to mount a Thule square bar above the TracRac crossbar to use existing Thule accessories.
I have not installed them yet but they will take up the space that is their existing when I add a structure to the top of this rack. My thoughts were to put an aluminum plate and hold them in place with the tiedown mounts so that I can mount my new ARB compressor on the outside of the truck. Although I like this compressor so much I am keeping it on the backseat behind the driver seat. This would not be possible in a crew cab I noticed but since we have a mega cab it is working perfect and my three kids don’t ride with me anymore since they are 20 years old and have their own plans. I could still get one son to ride with me and I still have the ARB compressor on our backseat working awesomely and still room for lots of junk to bring and my two of four dogs that go with us usually
The perfect parts for my aftermarket/used Tracrac SR. I have purchased 3 racks for different trucks in the last few years. etrailer has the exact parts needed to install the rack perfectly. And the parts always arrive quickly.
Does the trick for my 2500HD after adding shims. Use this rack with kayak saddles primarily and hauling lumber when needed.
