Will Tail Lights on 2007 Rav4 Operate if Power Wire of T-1 Wiring Harness # 118412 is not Connected
Question:
just wondered if you did the install and did not finish running the power wire to the battery if the cars taillights would still operate? Also, how do you know if this will work on a standard boat trailer? I dont know how many amps that pulls.. thanks

If the wiring harness was installed, but the power wire was not ran to the battery, the tail lights on the vehicle would most likely work until a trailer was connected. Once a trailer was connected, the tail lights would probably hyper flash. The fuses that protect the tail light circuits would most likely be blown. Tow Ready designed the wiring harness with a power wire to the vehicle battery because it was determined that the existing tail light circuits could not handle the additional amperage draw needed by the trailer lights. The fused power wire also offers additional protection from any shorts in the trailer wiring from damaging anything on the vehicle.
This particular wiring harness will work just fine on a boat trailer with 1 brake/turn/running light on each side of the back and one marker light on each side of the trailer. You will want to make sure to unplug the trailer and stow the wiring in the cargo compartment before backing the trailer into the water. Immersing the connector can cause a short.
For installation assistance, I will link you to the install instructions, an install video and a FAQ page that explains how to run the power wire to the front of the vehicle.
