Valve Stem to Use with Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire for Higher PSI Rating

Question:

I am replacing the tires on my 2015 5th wheel Jayco Pinnacle with double axle. I am considering tires that are slightly larger in order to move the load range up to ‘F’ from ‘E’. The consideration is going to Karrier Kenda ST235/85/16 from the current Carlisle ST235/80/16. Trailer GVR is 15,950 7,000 both front and rear, so the ‘F’ rating gives me a cushion of safety over the ‘E’. There is room for the .4” slightly taller tires. 2 questions- 1 Will the factory wheels take the higher psi from 80 to 110? 2I have also heard that the original valve stems limit the psi to 80 , so Can I replace the current valve stems on the wheels with metal ones to get the required higher psi? Thank you very much.

The wheels you have now will have no problem with the PSI of 110 that you mentioned but the valve stems might depending on what's in there now. Best option will be to order new valve stems with the tires that have the higher pressure rating like the # AM20906. These are rated for up to 200 psi.
