Converting 4-Pole Wiring to 7-Way Format on 2008 Ford F-150
Question:
I cannot seem to laocate what I need from Ford Curt, Hopkins, tech?? I have a factory 4 way that is connected through a rectangular connector that also provides tail lights, brake lights etc. I need to install a 7 way for brakes. The truck has the the brake controller connector near the OBDII port, extra coolers etc. si I believe that it had a tow ready package, it only had a bumper hitch when purchased Do you have any suggestions other than custom wiring. I would really appreciate it. Regards.

You can convert your F-150's existing factory 4-pole wiring to the 7-way format easily enough by using our Universal 7-way kit # ETBC7. This kit includes a 7-way socket, wiring items and all other parts needed to convert a functioning 4-pole setup to the 7-way type shown in the linked photo. The photo includes labels for each of the various circuits.
Some models of the 2008 F-150 may have a brake wire already run for you along the driver's frame rail, but this kit will work either way since it has all the required parts. This will save you the hassle of poking around under the truck looking for wiring that may not even be present. An installation video and article are included for you.
If you have not selected a brake controller I strongly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which has a well-deserved reputation for easy and convenient operation as well as exceptional reliability.
