Will Galvanized Steel Trailer Wheels Handle More than 80 psi

Question:

I HAVE A PRETTY HEAVY BOAT AND TRAILER. I WAS TOLD THAT YOU CAN NOT RUN A 10 PLY TIRE ON A GALVINIZED RIM DUE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE 80PSI IS THIS CORRECT OR DO I NEED TO GO TO ALUIM RIMS

Expert Reply:

Galvanized steel wheels are not limited to under 80 psi. In nearly every situation it's actually the valve stem that's being used that is the limiting factor for pressure and not the wheel. If you can get me the tire size and bolt pattern you current have I can give you higher capacity options.
