Can You Back Up with Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System Installed
Question:
Some customer reviewers on etrailer.com say they can back up their trailer with the Reese Straight Line Dual Cam hitch without removing the sway bars. Is this possible when the angle between truck and trailer is not too great? What angle is too great? Thanks

The Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084 referenced in your question does indeed allow you to back up with the trailer attached since its sway control is integrated into the head assembly. There isn't a specific angle measurement that you will want to avoid but we do still recommend trying to stay as straight as possible when the sway-control is still engaged. Normal backup situations with slight angles won't be problem at all though.
With that being said if you find yourself in a position where you need to make sharp turns and maneuvers when backing up it will still be best to just disconnect the dual-cam sway control to be safe. I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.
