Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

I want a receiver that DOES come through the rear fascia, at Knee height. Not to impede my departure angle. Nothing lower than my duel pipes. Does it exist?? There is a panel that looks to be removable, in said fascia. I want to tow a utility trailer with my ATV or my cycle. Class 2 hitch would be adequate.. correct?

The closest thing we have to that is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13172. It comes through the fascia but sits slightly below the dual exhaust on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee as you can see in the attached picture and installation video.

This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver which is best for towing and for use with other accessories. The hitch has a 5,000 lb trailer towing weight and a 750 lb tongue weight which is over the 4,500 lb towing and 450 lb tongue weight rating that you would have if your Trailhawk came with the 3.2L and the trailer tow package. If you don't have the trailer tow package then those limits are 2,000 lba dna 200 lbs respectively. Please note that you will be limited by the least rated component in your towing setup.

If you don't have the tow package then you will also need wiring. I recommend the Tekonsha # 118605 as it easily installs by plugging in behind your tail lights. We have found the Tekonsha wiring products to be the most reliable that we carry as well.

I also recommend using the ball mount kit # C45036 to complete your towing setup but you will want to refer to the linked ball mount article to ensure that the 2" drop is correct for your application.
