Determining Towing Capacity and Best Weight Distribution System for 2018 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Have a trailer that weighs about 3,000 pounds fully loaded. Trying to find for certain whether I can pull it okay with my 2018 JK Wrangler. Also looking into weight distribution. Any help is appreciated.

I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and it lists a number of possible towing capacities for the Wrangler JK depending on its engine size, axle ratio, and particular trim model (Sahara, Sport, etc). The capacities range from 2,000 pounds to 3,500 pounds.
Since your 3,000 pound trailer is right in the middle of this range I highly recommend verifying this information by checking your copy of the owner's manual. You can also visit your local Jeep dealer with your VIN and they will be able to tell you exactly what your Jeep is equipped with along with its specific towing capacity.
When picking out a weight distribution system the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. This includes both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Jeep. Ideally, this number will fall somewhere near the middle of the operating range for the system you choose.
You mentioned a loaded trailer weight of around 3,000 pounds. The most accurate method for determining your tongue weight is with a scale like the # e99044 but we can take a pretty good estimate in the meantime. Since a trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight, we can use the 3,000-pound weight you provided to estimate a loaded tongue weight of around 300 to 450 pounds.
A system that will work perfectly with this total tongue weight is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET. This system features a tongue weight capacity of 200 to 600 pounds and will do a great job of evenly distributing weight over the axles of your Jeep and trailer while limiting side-to-side movement with its 4-Point Sway Control.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can check out, along with an article on weight distribution that you might find helpful.
