The removal of the hot water heater element can be difficult. You can use a crescent wrench on the hex head of the element to unscrew it but Camco has a special wrench # CAM09883 to help with removing that element. This allows you to use a screwdriver and fits standard screw in elements with 1-1/2 inch nuts. Most factory water heaters are the Atwood water heaters that will take the element you referenced. I've attached a video to help further.
