How to Fit Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2018 GMC Sierra Factory Rail Kit Under Tonneau Cover
Question:
What is the height of the handle if the hitch is in the highest position? Would like to know if it will clear my tonneau cover when closed on a 2018 GMC 3500HD.

If you wanted the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30890 to fit under your tonneau cover you'd need to replace the handle of the hitch that points up with the Replacement Low Profile Handle for Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP58553. This handle lies flat instead of pointing up which allows it to fit under a cover.
The height range of the # RP30890 14 to 20 inches from the bed of the truck to the top of the head. You are supposed to pick the height setting that allows the trailer to be towed level. But on the lower end of that range the hitch would easily fit under a tonneau cover. Instead of raising the hitch height to raise the nose of the trailer you can also lower the pin box on the trailer frame too.
