Comparing B&W Companion And Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch For 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 With Tow Pkg

Question:

I have a 2017 GMC 3500 ordered. It will have the tow prep installed at the factory. I am torn between the two above hitches. The price is real draw to the Curt, but I think the jaws, top plate and other pieces look a little heavier in the BandW. Plus I like the American product. I called curt and theirs is made off shore probably China. I think the curt bed locking assemblies look a little better than the BandW, but who knows. Is there a way to suggest to me the better of the two. My fifth wheel weighs 17K loaded.

Both of the hitches you asked about have some great features. They both have dual jaws for better king-pin contact, and both have the same towing and vertical load limit capacity.

There are a few differences between the hitches. The hitch height of the B&W # BWRVK3700 is 16-3/4 - 18-3/4 inches where the Curt # C16530-16025 is 13 to 17-inches. The Curt has a 10-year warranty on the hitch and limited lifetime on the legs. The B&W hitch has a lifetime warranty. The jaws on the B&W hitch are 1-inch thick which means more security.

One advantage of the Curt hitch is that it has a bearing that allows the head to pivot 360-degrees and not just tilting side to side or front to back.

We have had great reviews from customers for both hitches so it makes it really tough to say one is definitely better than the other. You can weigh the differences I noted and decide which features will best work for you in deciding which hitch to go with.

If you need a 7-way harness for your fifth wheel in the bed of your truck I recommend part # 41157.

Can the height of a Ram M25 fifth wheel hitch be adjusted?

The Ram M25 Hitch is essentially the Curt Q25 # C16049, so you should be able to adjust the height setting between 14" and 18".

@ChrisR - Thanks Chris. After further inspection, I located the adjustment holes on the "inside" of the hitch frame. Thanks for your help.
