Recommended Replacement Slide-Topper Awning for 2017 Montana High Country

Question:

Hello, I have a 2017 montana high country front living room 5th wheel that has toppers . Yesterday my neighbor was putting his trailer next to mine and hit the topper . the box measures 80 1/2 outside flange to outside flange ,The topper measures 86 total length. the 7foot Solera Slider is 84inch wide and has a box width range of 74inch to 79-3/4inch and the 7.5foot Solera Slider is 90inch wide and has a box width range of 80inch to 85-3/4. My question is why is mine 86 wide total ? If I measure end cap to end cap its 80 What one do i order ? Id like to keep it the same as the other side of the trailer . THANKS

The Solera 7.5' Slider (Slide-Topper) in Black w/ Black Hardware # LCV000165062 is the part you want. It measures 90 inches wide as you stated and fits a box that measures from flange to flange or 80 inches to 85-3/4 inches. It requires 6 inches of clearance beyond the outside edges to accommodate the hardware. The slightly wider topper is to keep dirt, debris, and protect the slide out from weather.

I can only assume your current topper at 86 inches wide was the bare minimum width to accommodate your slide out and keep the cost for materials down for the manufacturer. Unfortunately if you were to move down to the next option of a 7 foot wide # LCV000168105 then the width would only be 84 inches and would not allow the hardware to fit on your slider.

I recommend the 7.5 foot # LCV000165062 for your application.
