How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2009 Dodge Journey
Question:
I just started installing my New etrailer hitch. On removing the wiring grommets from the original bumper I found a 5 pin connector. After further investigation I have a Tow Prep-Package. Do you have a 4 pin connector that I can just connect to this? Or 7/4 pin? How would I utilize this connector instead of running wire all the way to the front of the vehicle. Thanks

Though I am not sure what the connector you are referring to is for, I can assure you that it is not for trailer wiring which means we would not have anything that plugs into it to operate the trailer lights. If you would like to add a 4-way trailer connector to your 2009 Dodge Journey then I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118474 which is almost completely plug and play.
If the trailer has brakes then you will need a brake controller and a 4 to 7-way trailer wiring harness adapter. For this, I recommend the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat part # ETBC7 and the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160. This process is going to require a bit more work then the 4-way which you can see in the sample install video. If you would like to go this route and you need further clarification please do not hesitate to ask.
The above two options will be the only way to install a trailer wiring harness on your Journey.
