Blue Ox Tow Bar Recommendation that is Easy to Connect and Disconnect from Base Plate
Question:
I have an older Blue Ox Aventa II tow bar that Id like to replace. I dont need a bar that is rated for 10,000 lbs. I tow a 2017 GMC Terrain - approx. 3700 lbs - that has the Blue Ox Base plate that fits the Aventa. I assume I could buy another Blue Ox tow bar that is rated for 5,000 - 6,500 lbs and not have to replace the base plate??? The reason Id like to upgrade is that it is difficult to get the arms to lock on my current Aventa unless Im aligned perfectly. Its also sometimes difficult to disconnect the arms without rocking the tow vehicle. Im thinking the newer Non-Binding tow bars might help - correct?

Non-binding arms will help quite a bit with making it easier to connect and disconnect to your base plate kit. The Blue Ox Alpha part # BX7380 would be a great choice. It has a 6,500 lb weight rating, telescoping arms, and a swivel feature at the shank which allows it to be much easier to use. This is our most popular Blue Ox option that would work well for you. Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.
