Can an 8-1/2 inch Wide Tire Fit Timbren Axle-Less System ASR2KHDS04 and Clear the Trailer Frame
Question:
Hello, Im thinking about purchasing the Timbren axle-less system for my lightweight tent trailer. I do a lot of dry camping on 4 wheel drive forest service roads, so Im looking to install some bigger tires as Im currently running 145/12R. With this setup, Ive got about 1.75 inches of clearance from sidewall to frame rail. Both the ASR2KHDS03 and 04 kits offer the 4 inch lift, but the 03 offers 8.5 inches of clearance from the hub face to frame rail while the 04 offers 6 inches. My question is, what is considered an off roadinch tire versus a highway tire. If I were planning to run a 215 section AT width tire, would 6 inch clearance be enough, or do I need 8.5 inches?

An off-road tire won't necessarily be wider than a standard tire but generally will have more knobby tread design. A 215 tire will be about 8-1/2 inches wide. If the wheel used has a zero offset then from the hub face to the inside sidewall of the tire will be about 4-1/4 inches.
That means that the best option for you is # ASR2KHDS04 because once the tire is mounted you will be about at the same frame distance you are now only with the Timbren system the trailer will be higher (better ground clearance).
