Where Does Wiring for Installing Hopkins Backup Camera # HM50002 Run to At Rear of Vehicle
Question:
Is there an easy way to install the Hopkins HM50002 back-up camera system on a 2005 Ford Explorer? Ive run the cable from camera back to the rear lift gate required a major disassembly of panels where the license plate is installed. So does another cable need to be run from the hitch electrical connector, back through the frame and body to be spliced to the cable from the camera? I feel that this system was not meant for my vehicle type.

For a clean install of the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 that you referenced there will typically be quite a bit of interior panels that will need to come up so that it's all hidden and out of sight.
The harness that plugs inline with the vehicle 7-way is connected to the harness that plugs into the camera on the license plate bracket so typically once you've ran the license plate bracket wiring you've done most of the wiring to get the to the 7-way as well.
Since these kits are universal fit items there isn't a specific way to install it on your vehicle.
