Replacement 4-1/2 Inch Long Spool Rollers for a Boat Trailer

Question:

I measured my spool rollers inside the brackets at 4 1/2 can I replace with 3 rollers and add bells to the ends to achieve the 4 1/2. or would I be better off putting 4 rollers with washers to take up the slop?

In order to find the correct replacement spool roller for your boat trailer, you would need to measure from the inside of each mounting bracket. The 4-1/2" long measurement that you provided is not common and we would not have anything that matches this dimension exactly.

With that being said, I recommend using a 4" long roller and adding a couple washers on each side. You could also tighten the brackets more to pull them in further. The bells that you mentioned would be too thick to close the 1/4" gap you would have on each side.

If you have a 1/2" roller shaft then you would want to use part # YR4163-4P or part # YR4163-5 if you have a 5/8" roller shaft. If you would also like to replace the roller shaft you can use part # CE10700A for 1/2" or part # CE10721A for 5/8".

Since we do not have a 4-1/2" long spool roller, I recommend using a 4" long spool roller like part # YR4163-4P for 1/2" shafts or part # YR4163-5 for 5/8" shafts and adding a washers to take up the extra space. Using a smaller 3" spool roller and bells would not be recommended as the surface area and capacity would not be suited for the hull of your boat.
