Troubleshooting Installation of Curt 12115 Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Im trying to install Curt hitch #12115 on a malibu limited 2016 LTZ. The mount tabs on the crossmember will not line up with the mounting holes on the exhaust hangers. There is interference with the Rubber cushions on this dual exhaust vehicle. Do you trim the cushions? Or trim the hitch tabs? Help, please.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12115 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. I reached out to my tech contact and he said it sounds like you may be installing it on the wrong side. He said it is an interesting configuration from most other hitches and this is the order it will go. You will have the bolt head then the washer, then the hitch, then the weld nut on hanger and then the hanger with bolt coming through the rubber on other side.
You will not do any trimming of the rubber isolators or the hitch tabs for the correct fit. I've attached the installation details for you.
