I am looking at converting my trailer axles from electric breaks to hydrolic disk breaks. The rim size is 16" and the bolt pattern is 8x6.5. I would like to know if you have any kits for this. The sticker on my axles says it is a Wheel and Rim Century from Corona, Ca with a serial number of 20548. I think it was made 1987 and has a gvwr of 14k lbs. Please let me know if you have something to convert these over to electric over hydrolic disk breaks And let me know if you need any more information Thanks

We have exactly what you need to change your current hub and drum assembly to an Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) disc brake setup.

The most popular disc brake kit that we have to offer if the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712D which comes with a 13" rotor that has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern and is rated for 7,000 lbs. The dacromet finish on this kit gives it the best protection out there especially for freshwater and saltwater use. The rotor uses the same 25580 inner bearing and 14125A outer bearing that your current hub has. The grease seal has a 2.250" inner diameter which you will want to check to make is compatible with your spindle.

If you don't already have the line run for a hydraulic brake system then you can use part # 20TA-BLKIT for 20' of line or part # HS496-252 for 25' of line. I prefer the hose over the metal line because it means your brake lines are more flexible and will last longer.

The key component to an EOH system is the actuator. For your disc brakes you need one with a psi rating of at least 1,500. I recommend the popular HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HBA16 which has a 1,600 psi rating.

To activate your trailer brakes in the case of an emergency you need a breakaway kit. The Hopkins Kit # 20099 is one of the best on the market due to the push button battery tester and the built-in charger.

On the vehicle side of things you need a brake controller to activate the trailer brakes. I recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it features an LCD screen that makes operation much easier than other controllers that require you to remember codes. This brake controller has been confirmed to work with the HydraStar actuator without a additional adapters.

Based on the dimensions you listed we have the part #010-180-00 which would fit and work well. This has an outer diameter of 2.33 inch and an inner diameter of 1.68 inch like you need so it would work well.

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part #K2R1058D11 Dexter 10 rated axles. They will need to be 8-288, 2 piece hub built from Feb. 1990 to Aug. 2009. Yours fits the age range so theres a strong chance this is the right kit.
