Do I Really Need To Repack Bearings Every 12 Months If I Have Low Mileage On Trailer
Question:
I see the recommenced interval for repacking wheel bearings is 12k or 1 year. I get the 12k but why every year? Im in a dry climate. My trailer is up on jack stands 90 of the time. I only do about 4K a year. I am at 3400lbs loaded on a 3500lb axle so I am maxing it out there. Im at 8,700 Miles right now after two years. Thanks for any insight.

The bearings should really be repacked every 12,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first even if you are not putting 12,000 miles on the trailer. It still a good idea to routinely repack the bearings every 12 months because the grease breaks down over time regardless of the mileage which can lead to bearing failure. I have attached a couple of helpful articles for your reference.
