Why are Leaf Spring Brackets Needed for Front Mount Hitch on 2002 Ford Super Duty?

Question:

I fail to see the purpose of the leaf spring brackets on this mount. Could you explain why this mount is necessary

I'd be happy to. As you can see from the cutout I added from the instructions, the leaf spring brackets from the Curt # C31014 are necessary in order to install this front-mounted hitch on your 2002 Ford Super Duty if it has a blocker bar. You can also see from the linked installation video how the hitch installs. It is for trucks that have the blocker bar, which means you will have leaf springs on the front of your truck. If you do not have that on your Super Duty you can use the Draw-Tite # 65022 front-mounted hitch instead. I've linked the installation instructions for both hitches for you to take a look at as well.
