Wiring Needed for 2017 Toyota Tacoma Towing Boat Trailer

Question:

My tacoma does not have anything set up for towing. I tow my boat with my chevy. So I’ll need a complete wiring for my tacoma. Would that be #22117? So I won’t need the brake controller that comes with the kit. Trailer has 7 blade adapter, Tacoma just needs to be wired to accept the plug on my trailer. Just like a factory install?

The Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22117 is a replacement harness for the factory 7-way on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma and is not a brake controller. Your boat trailer has a 7-pole adapter so you may already have a 7-way on your Tacoma; you would only need a brake controller if you had electric brakes on your boat trailer and did not have a brake controller already.

You can install the Vehicle Wiring Harness - 7 Way Trailer Connector # 22117 on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma and it will give you a 7-way. It installs by plugging into the connection points behind your Tacoma's tail lights and by running a wire to the battery and it will accept the 7-blade on your trailer. I've added a link to a video review of this harness for you to take a look at as well.
