Installing a Tekonsha Brake Controller in a 2006 Dolphin LX motorhome.

Question:

I have installed a Tekonsha Voyager in my 2005 H2 Hummer using your wiring adapter, and was told the same wiring adapter could be used on my2006 Dolphin LX motorhome with a W2400 Workhorse chassis. Both vehicles have the same rear plugs for trailer hook up, with the blue wire on the lower right pin that says brake, so I assume the Dolphin was prewired for a brake controller just like the H2. Where should I be looking for the brake controller wiring in the Dolphin? Should I look for a matching connector like I found in the Hummer, or for 4 or 5 wires tucked or taped under the Dolphin dash? I would appreciate any help you can give me on finding the plug or wires in my motorhome.

There isn't a brake controller wiring harness for the 2006 Workhorse RV chassis. It is possible that the RV came with one. Sometimes they plug in under the driver's seat but would otherwise be located under the dash. It is also possible that it does not have a place to plug a brake controller into and could just have tow package wires under the dash. To check this look for a bundle of wires up under dash with a white tag on them.

If you cannot locate a wire bundle or place that a brake controller plugs into you will have to hardwire in the brake controller. The white wire is ground, black is 12 volt power, blue is output to the trailer brakes and red is input from the brake switch.

The white wire needs to attach to the negative battery terminal. Black goes to the positive battery terminal via a 30 amp circuit breaker. Blue connects to the back of the 7-Way in the 7 o'clock position. And red is input from the brake switch.

We have a kit # 5506 that comes with wire and circuit breakers. But you will like need more wire, # 12-1-1 which is sold by the foot, since RVs tend to be long.
