Where is the Brake Controller Wiring Located on a 2008 Chevy Suburban
Question:
I have a 2008 suburban, I am the original owner. It has a factory installed trailer package. When the shop a trailer shop tried to find the trailer package to hook up a brake controller under the dash they couldn’t find it. The two wires under the hood were there but not were they should be under the dash. Have any ideas?

The wire bundle to install a brake controller on a 2008 Chevy Suburban is tucked up under the dash but may be more to the left of the steering column than on GM trucks. It is most likely tucked up above other components or wiring. There should be a white tag holding the wires together. If there is no white tag then look for a red and black, white, light blue and white, dark blue, and orange wire all near each other. Assuming they are not connected to anything those are likely the tow package wires.
The red/black wire is 12 volt power in so testing it with a meter should show 12 volt power. White is ground. Light blue/white will only have power when the brake pedal is pressed. Dark blue is output to the trailer brakes, And orange is not used. Take a look at the video I have linked on a 2011 Suburban. It will be very similar to your 2008. Notice that it is possible for the wires to have different colors than what I have described above.
