There are some connections that you will need to make under the hood of your 2008 Chevy Suburban to make the tow package wiring fully functional. We actually have an FAQ article that I have linked for you that explains what to do. You will need the section near the end called Finalizing Connections for the Brake Controller.
In the tow package wire bundle from under the dash, you will make the following connections to the brake controller:
Tow package Red connects to brake controller black for 12 volt power
Tow package Dark Blue connects brake controller blue for output to trailer brakes
Tow package Light Blue connects to brake controller red for input from brake switch
Tow package White connects to brake controller white for ground.
If you have any other tow package wires they will not be needed and you can tape them up and stow them out of the way.
If you truck came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector, installation will be complete. If the truck did not come with a factory 7-Way, you will also need Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector, # 30955. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation.
