Comparing the Rhino-Rack Roof Racks # RRSG59 and # RRSG60 for a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited 4 Door

Question:

I have a 2012 wrangler unlimited 4 door. I want to put the rack over my rear doors about 19 inch spread. I plan to carry a 8.5 foot kayak. I can see no difference between the 60 and 59. The 59 is supposed to be for a larger spread which I dont need. I also see pictures of unlimiteds with the SG60. Does it really make a difference? I can get a much better deal on the 60 right now on the site I am looking at.

The Rhino-Rack SG Roof Rack for Rain Gutters part # RRSG59 and part # RRSG60 are actually the same roof rack just with different directions for their specific application.

The 59 is the confirmed fit for your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door while the 60 is for 2 door applications. Since you have a 4 door you need to install the roof rack with a crossbar spread of 31-1/2" as depicted in the attached photo. The 11-13/16" and 19-11/16" measurements are where you will install the front and rear crossbars in relation to the line between your doors.

If you were to install the crossbars 19"apart further back on your Wrangler Unlimited then you run the risk of damaging your roof rack, equipment, your Jeep, and those traveling around you. Since Rhino-Rack tested the roof rack and specifies the installation locations that is where you need to install the crossbars.

The installation instructions have been linked for you. You need to follow the instructions for the 4 door installation.
