Comparison of Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty and Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Racks

Question:

Im deciding between rhino rack aero vortex bars and the heavy duty square bars. I dont understand why the square bars are called heavy duty, but still only rated to 220lbs. Is there a benefit to the square bars over the aero vortex?

The Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Roof Rack Roof Rack have specific C-channels that are designed to fit specific Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty accessories, like the Rhino-Rack Hi-Lift Jack and Shovel-Holder Brackets # RRRCB-RSHB-RJHB as an example. That's the purpose of the name, and the advantage of the rack. This rack is made up of the following parts:

Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Roof Rack Crossbars: # RB1375 Qty 2
Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs: # RRRLT600 Qty 4
Roof Rack Leg Spacer Blocks: # RRQMHD05-2 Qty 4
Rhino-Rack RT-Style Roof Rack Tracks: # RRRTS546 Qty 2

The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack has a more aerodynamic design that is intended to reduce wind noise since that is a major concern for many people when using a roof rack. This rack is made up of the following parts:

Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars: # RRVA137B-2 Qty 2
Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs: # RRRLT600 Qty 4
Rhino-Rack RT-Style Roof Rack Tracks: # RRRTS546 Qty 2

Both racks are rated for 220 pounds which is actually more than most roof racks and more than most vehicles can support. For example, according to an online owner's manaul I found, your 2014 Ford Transit Connect's roof has a maximum weight capacity of 165 pounds.

Both racks are a confirmed fit for your van.
