Cost Effective Camper Tie Downs for Use with 2017 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a 2017 Ford F150. Will the Brophy clamp style tie down bend or tent the aluminum bed? Thanks

I called my contact at Brophy and they informed me that they tested the Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs part # HSAB on an aluminum body Ford F-Series pickup and didn't have any problems doing so therefore, yes they will work well for you. If you have a drop in bedliner that extends up to the side rails on the bed then they will need to be trimmed in order for the camper tie-downs to mount properly.
In order to secure the truck bed camper to the tie-downs you will need a set of turnbuckles and for that I recommend using the Brophy Turnbuckles w/ Hardware part # TDHP. These turnbuckles have a weight capacity of 3,000 lb with an extended/retracted length of 12" and 7-5/8" respectively.
Since you will be adding a significant amount of weight on the vehicle's rear suspension, I recommend upgrading both the bump stops/sway bar using part # TFRTT1504E and part # RM-1139-177. The springs will help to distribute the added weight and the sway bar will help to reduce body roll. The combination of these two parts will keep your truck handling and performing as if the camper is not present.
I have attached a review video of the tie-downs, springs, and sway bar for you as well.
